What is Life – and How on Earth Did it Start?

Obviously this article glosses over much of the microbiological detail that is important in understanding the mechanisms of life – like the relationship between DNA and proteins – but the purpose was not necessarily to teach specific details – but to communicate the general principles involved, and to make the argument that life as we know it could have formed (and did form) via non-magical, naturalistic mechanisms.

If you’re interested in learning more about this topic, I would recommend starting with some Khan Academy biology. Sal Khan does a tremendous job of explaining all of the details involved in the processes of life – such as the mechanism by which DNA codes for specific proteins.
